Every Year Grocery Stores in the United States invest Millions of Dollars to replace stolen Carts. Since 2008 Grocery and Department Stores started to install Cart Locks on their Carts to prevent cart theft. To rent the cart you need to unlock the cart with a Quarter. The Quarter remains in the Cart until you return the Cart to the Store and you receive your Quarter back.

Often you do not have a Quarter ready for the rental, and you must ask for change. Cart Quarters are used to replace a real Quarter to rent a Carts or Trolleys in Supermarkets. With the Cart Quarter asking for change is a thing of the past and you never need to use a real Quarter again.
